IFS Therapy, Counselor

Christian IFS Therapy for Religious Trauma

Faith and inner healing, held together.

A Christian Approach to Internal Family Systems Therapy

Many Christians carry wounds from religious environments that used shame, control, or fear in the name of faith. Others carry pain from before their faith that has never felt safe to bring into a spiritual conversation. Angela D. Andrews combines Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy with pastoral counseling so you do not have to choose between psychological insight and your relationship with God. Parts of you that feel angry at the church, distant from God, or trapped by performance and perfectionism are welcomed into the work rather than corrected out of it.

How Faith and IFS Work Together

IFS never asks you to set your faith aside. Sessions can include prayer, scripture, and theophostic-informed reflection alongside the IFS process of getting to know your protective and wounded parts. This integration allows spiritual language and emotional healing to support each other instead of competing, so growth in one area strengthens the other.

Who This Work Is For

This approach is often a good fit for people processing religious trauma, spiritual abuse, purity culture wounds, deconstruction, or grief over a faith community they had to leave. It is available in person in Kennesaw, GA and virtually anywhere. If you want a therapist who takes both your faith and your history seriously, reach out to schedule a first session.
